A BRIEF HISTORY OF ANJUMAN E ABDULLAH (KHAMBAT) TRUST
Anjuman E Abdullah Khambhat Trust was conceptualised almost 90 plus years ago.

In those days, Khambhat residents would socialize in the evening together, at a common place and call it a club. It was a meeting place to share views, common interests and talk of development of the community and spend some time over tea & snacks.

During World War and after, many people started migrating to different cities like Calcutta & Mumbai in search of better business prospects. In Mumbai, there was no club culture and so the Khambaties formed a meineej committee, to stay connected and socialise. The 1st jaman was done by this committee about 90 years ago. It was a good bonding time for all Khambaties.

In earlier days, members would personally arrange to provide the items to make icecream, kharas, mithas, jaman, etc, as per the menu, to the caterer. This custom still prevails in Khambhat today.

One of the founder members was Nazarali kakaji Nizamali & a gentleman named Darbar saheb (whose lineage we are not able to trace) and Sk. Moizbhai Miyajiwala. Sk. Moizbhai, as founder member was also the president of this committee till the age of 77 -78yrs, when Sk Imdadbhai Khambati joined the organisation.

Also 2 jamans were done to celebrate Urs of Moulai Ahmed saheb & Urs of Kaka Akela & Kaki Akela saheb, later they were combined into one jaman. Academic Awards to students scoring highest marks in Class X examinations , were given.

Invite was given by hand to each Khambati house by Saifuddinbhai Nadiadwala, a very hard working grass root person who did all chores and was active till the end.

The committee organisation was made into a Trust in 2012-13 to facilitate receiving donations towards scholarship, hoob as Khambaties wanted to help their brethren specially those who wanted to study ahead and had financial constraints. Many Trust members have given their valuable time over many years to continue the legacy.
